The RZA Wishes To Take ’36 Chambers’ To Broadway
Posted by Mr. Genius on Jun 4, 2010
With films and music (can’t wait to hear the ish he did for Ye’s album) already on his plate, the RZA is aiming for a new stage, specifically Broadway. According to Boombox, RZA’s next dream is to take the classic album Enter The Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers and turn it into a Broadway musical.
“I thought about doing ‘36 Chambers.’ I dreamed I can do it on Broadway cause I make my albums like movies,” RZA states. “People been talking to me about a lot of things. I got people reaching out to me about Carnegie Hall. I make movies now, so I get more access. It’s still in the dream world, but a lot of my dreams have come true and I’m working on this one, baby.” In fact, he’s so confident it can and will happen RZA even has a timeline in mind. “I think in five years it could be done, actually,” he says. ~57thave
The RZA Addresses Jay Electronica’s Comments
Posted by Mr. Genius on Jun 2, 2010“If anybody got a question of what I say, they can ask me. I fear no man. I fear no MC’s talent,” he said. “But I definitely know when you young, you feel a certain way. At one point, we as Wu-Tang was like, ‘The whole industry is wack besides Wu-Tang.’ That was our energy, our spirit. That’s how we felt until we learned, ‘Wait a minute, hold on. That’s why they talking about that.’ Hip-hop, to me, is more a unifying force than a separating force.” ~MTV
Also, Raekwon the Chef recently spoke on the group taking over Rock The Bells to perform their classic opus:
“We never did that before. We never sung the whole album, the 36 Chambers. That’s gonna be interesting to see these cats do some of the records that really bust hip-hop’s cherry open. I can’t wait to see this because I never seen it like that before. The concept is great. It gives fans the opportunity to go back and rewrite their history, go back and check it out, see what made dudes who they are. … This [tour] is gonna allow races to come together and have fun for one night. This is gonna be the event of events. This is gonna be the Royal Rumble of hip-hop. I’m sure that everybody is gonna come out and represent this. It’s gonna be right. I can’t wait.” ~MTV
